HONOLULU — Media are invited to interview a Coast Guard Sector Honolulu representative about the salvage of a grounded vessel at Kewalo Basin Harbor in Honolulu Wednesday.
During the salvage operation Tuesday afternoon, a Coast Guard Station Honolulu boat crew will enforce a safety zone around the tugboat and grounded passenger vessel.
The Discovery, a 75-foot passenger vessel that operates as a shuttle for Atlantis Adventures, was secured to the Kewalo Basin seawall after running aground with two people aboard 60 feet outside Kewalo Basin Harbor on Aug. 9.
The on-scene weather at the time of the grounding consisted of 5 mph winds and 8 to 10-foot seas with a building south swell resulting in 10 to 12-foot breaking waves on Oahu’s south shore.
