MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard to achieve historic milestone with offload over 76,140 lbs. in illegal narcotics at Port Everglades

MIAMI — The U.S. Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a press conference, Monday, highlighting the largest cocaine offload for the U.S. Coast Guard.  

Who: Rear Adm. Adam Chamie, Southeast District commander 

         Capt. John B. McWhite, Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton commanding officer 

         Rear Adm. Chase Sargeant, Deputy Director, Joint Interagency Task Force-South  

         U.S. Attorney Gregory Kehoe, Middle District of Florida, U.S. Attorney’s Office 

  

What: The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a press conference discussing the largest cocaine offload in Coast Guard history, with the assistance of partner agencies, during counter drug operations in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. 

When: Monday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m.  

Where: Berth 22, Port Everglades - 1800 SE 20th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Media and VIPs are encouraged to use PTEV entrances at U.S. 1/State Road 84 and I-595/Eller Drive to avoid the SE 17th Street Causeway entrance. 

Media are asked to arrive no later than 9 a.m., for the press conference due to security screening requirements. Media are reminded they need to go through Port Everglades check points first to access the offload event. Anyone requesting to go live after the press conference needs to clear the request through the Port Everglades PIO.
