SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. Coast Guard Station San Francisco crewmembers respond to a report of a vessel fire with two people aboard near the breakwater at Berkeley Marina, Monday afternoon.
Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders received a distress call at approximately 3 p.m. from a mariner reporting his vessel was on fire. A Station San Francisco boatcrew was diverted to the scene and issued an urgent marine information broadcast. Berkeley Fire Department also launched a fire boat to assist.
The boatcrew arrived on scene and confirmed the fire was extinguished. The starboard engine was inoperable, but the port engine remained functional. The Coast Guard escorted the vessel back to the Berkeley marina.
No injuries or pollution were reported.
