Coast Guard rescues 3 people from a disabled vessel in vicinity of Mona Island

SAN JUAN, PR  – Coast Guard crews located and rescued three men, Saturday, whose boat had become disabled in vicinity of Mona Island.

Missing were Moises Acosta Pagan, 28, Jose Abiel Galindo Alice,  20, and Jorge Martinez Irrizari, 38.

No injuries were reported.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Juan received the initial report of the three men from Fuerzas Unidas de Rapida Acción at approximately 9:30 P.M., Friday. The men were expected to return back to shore earlier Friday morning.

A Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew launched from Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, spotted a vessel matching the description of the missing boat and vectored the Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon to the location. The crew of the Richard Dixon identified the missing men and provided necessary assistance.
