WHAT: Coast Guard Auxiliary members will discuss safe boating practices, demonstrate safety equipment and conduct life jacket fittings

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to noon

WHERE: Office of Veterans and Military Affairs, M7FM+WRH, Tafuna, Western District 96799, American Samoa

HONOLULU — Media are invited to interview Coast Guard Auxiliary members about boating safety during an event at the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs in Tafuna, American Samoa, Tuesday.

Interviews with media will be offered between 9 a.m. and noon.

Coast Guard Auxiliary members will share boating safety information, discuss paddle craft safety, demonstrate safety equipment and conduct life jacket fittings.

The flotilla is hosting the free event to raise awareness and provide tools and information in an effort to prevent accidents on the water. The event will be held from Aug. 5-7 and is open to the public.

Recreational boat owners, paddlers, veterans and their families, and members of the public interested in boating safety are encouraged to attend the event.
