SAN DIEGO — Coast Guard Station San Diego interdicted five suspected aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel approximately 2.5 miles southwest of Point Loma, California, Sunday evening.

At 7:01 p.m., Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders at the Joint Harbor Operations Center observed a vessel heading north towards Mission Bay after crossing the Maritime Boundary Line. Watchstanders then vectored in the Station San Diego 36-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement crew to intercept.

Three of the five individuals claimed Mexican nationality, one claimed Guatemalan nationality, and one claimed Peruvian nationality.  All five suspected aliens were taken into custody.

The vessel and the suspected aliens were transported to Ballast Point to transfer custody to another DHS agency.
