Coast Guard interdicts 7 aliens 7.5 miles west of Sunset Cliffs, Calif.

SAN DIEGO – Coast Guard Station San Diego interdicted seven suspected aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel approximately 7.5 miles west of Sunset Cliffs, Monday. 

At 12:37 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Diego watch-standers received a call from San Diego Lifeguards for a disabled vessel reporting it had been stranded for several hours. 

Coast Guard Cutter David Duren was diverted to the vessel to investigate. The David Duren’s boarding team discovered seven suspected aliens aboard the vessel, two of whom were minors. 

Four of the seven individuals had identification, six claimed Mexican nationality, and one claimed Chilean nationality.  All seven suspected aliens were taken into custody. 

The vessel and the suspected aliens were transported to Ballast Point to be transferred to the custody of Imperial Beach Border Patrol.
