WHAT: Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville change of command ceremony.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 9, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: The Conference Center at the Jacksonville Public Library, 303 N. Laura St., Jacksonville, FL 32202.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The crew of Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville is scheduled to hold a change of command ceremony, Wednesday, at the Jacksonville Public Library.

During the ceremony, Capt. Janet D. Espino-Young will transfer command of Sector Jacksonville to Capt. Jason C. Aleksak. Rear Adm. Douglas M. Schofield, commander of the Southeast Coast Guard District, will preside over the ceremony.

The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored military tradition that marks a transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. The ceremony is conducted in order to formally demonstrate the continuity of authority within a U.S. military command.
