LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard completed the medevac of an ailing man from an oil rig approximately 35 miles offshore from Santa Barbara, Friday afternoon.
Coast Guard District 11 watchstanders received a call at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday, from the Platform Heritage reporting a crew member experiencing severe chest pains.
Watchstanders coordinated the launch of an Air Station Ventura MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew. The aircrew arrived on scene and completed the hoist at approximately 12:25 p.m. and transited to Camarillo Airport.
The aircrew landed at Camarillo Airport at approximately 1 p.m. and transferred the patient to awaiting emergency medical services. He was then taken to St. John’s Hospital Camarillo for care.
