Coast Guard rescues 3 boaters from disabled vessel near Gilligans Island, Puerto Rico

MIAMI - A Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen aircrew rescued 3 boaters, Wednesday, after a 26-foot vessel lost propulsion and was drifting toward a reef off Guánica, Puerto Rico.

No injuries were reported. 

The boaters were transported to Ponce Mercedita Airport. The vessel was towed by a good Samaritan to a local marina and is not a hazard to navigation. 

The owner aboard the 26-foot boat radioed Coast Guard Sector San Juan watchstanders over VHF channel 16 at approximately 4:50 p.m., reporting the vessel was disabled and drifting toward a reef.
