Media Advisory: Coast Guard, partner agencies hold National Safe Boating Week press conference

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Coast Guard Station Cortez and Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9th Division crews are teaming up with Sarasota County and the National Safe Boating Council for a press conference on Friday to discuss beach and boating safety at Nora Patterson Bay Island Park in Sarasota.

WHO: Tim Dorsey, assistant chief, Sarasota County Fire Department 

Chief Petty Officer Derek Waters, officer in charge, Coast Guard Station Cortez 

Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9th Division

Peg Phillips, executive director, National Safe Boating Council 

WHAT: Address National Safe Boating Week, water safety, and beach safety ahead of Memorial Day weekend, along with department operations.

WHEN: Friday, May 23, at 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: Nora Patterson Bay Island Park, 946 Siesta Dr, Sarasota.
