Coast Guard scheduled to set temporary waterway restrictions near Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to issue a temporary restriction of recreational and commercial vessel movements during the Swim the Loop and Mott’s Channel Sprint swimming events Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and around Harbor Island near Wrightsville Beach.

The Captain of the Port is issuing the temporary restriction during the event to ensure the safety of all participants.

Vessel traffic is scheduled to resume once all race events conclude and all swimmers are clear.

Event details:
• Swim the Loop will start and end at Dockside Restaurant.
• Mott’s Channel Sprint will start at Blockade Runner’s Resort and end at Dockside Restaurant.

Vessels seeking permission to transit the area should contact the Coast Guard on VHF-FM channel 16.
