WASHINGTON — The Coast Guard permanently removed Capt. Daniel Mode, Chaplain of the Coast Guard, from his primary duty due to a loss of confidence, Wednesday.
The Coast Guard determined Mode failed to demonstrate the requisite judgment expected from his key leadership position.
Mode served as the Chaplain of the Coast Guard at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., since 2022. He will be reassigned by the Navy Chaplain Corps to duties outside of the Coast Guard.
Capt. Richard Ryan, Coast Guard Atlantic Area Chaplain, will temporarily assume the position until a permanent replacement is identified.
