NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard rescued two overdue boaters Saturday after they became stranded near Hopedale, Louisiana.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received notification from St. Bernard dispatch Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m. of two overdue boaters last reported aboard a 23-foot white center console recreational vessel in the Hopedale area.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and the launch of a Coast Guard Station New Orleans 29-foot Response Boat-small crew to assist in the search.

The helicopter crew located the two distressed boaters and their disabled vessel early Saturday morning, hoisted the two persons aboard the helicopter and transported them to Hopedale Marina in St Bernard, Louisiana.

The boaters were last reported to be in stable condition.
