MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard, LMPD to offer media ride-along prior to Thunder Over Louisville.

WHAT: Pre-event media ride-along for Thunder Over Louisville. 

WHO: Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley, Coast Guard Station Louisville, Louisville Metro Police Department.

WHEN: Friday, April 19, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. EDT

WHERE: Turquoise Lot, 1331 River Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40206.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Coast Guard and Louisville Metro Police Department are scheduled to host a ride-along for media on Friday, in Louisville, Kentucky. During the ride-along, media can film and take photos from a Coast Guard vessel and Coast Guard personnel will be available to discuss preparations for Thunder Over Louisville. Coast Guard personnel will also discuss special local regulations that will be in effect during the event including the dates and times of river closures, various operating conditions that boaters could face and safe boating practices that should be observed year-round.

Media planning to attend should arrive no later than 11:15 a.m. EDT Friday at the Turquoise Lot. If there is interest from the Media, boats will be made available to obtain views of the river conditions on the Ohio River. Lifejackets will be provided during the mandatory safety brief.
