The Coast Guard, partner agencies searching for missing boater near Texas City, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard, along with local partner agencies, are searching for a missing boater near Texas City, Texas, Friday.

Missing is a Caucasian male last seen wearing a red wetsuit.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received notification Friday at 5 p.m. from the Texas City Police Department relaying a call from boater stating their vessel capsized and their father drifted out of sight, near the Texas City Dike.

A Texas City Marine Unit crew responded, recovered the caller, and transferred them ashore.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Galveston a 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to search for the missing boater.

  • Port of Houston Fire Department
