Coast Guard, state, local first responders to conduct boat drills on Ohio River in Kentucky, Indiana.

WHAT: The Coast Guard, state and local first responders are scheduled to conduct law enforcement drills with a commercial towing vessel on the Ohio River near Evansville, Indiana.

WHO: U.S. Coast Guard Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Indiana and Kentucky State Police, Evansville Police & Fire Departments, Henderson Police & Fire Departments, Owensboro Police & Fire Departments, Black Township Fire Department, Newburgh Fire Department, Marrs Township Fire Department, Boonville Fire Department, Shawneetown Fire Department, and Evansville Marine Services, Inc.

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

WHERE: Evansville Marine Services facility, located at 2300 Broadway in Evansville, Indiana. Law enforcement drills to be held on the Ohio River mile marker 790.0 to 794.0. 

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA — The Coast Guard, federal, state and local agencies are slated to conduct law enforcement drills on the Ohio River near Evansville, Indiana, Wednesday. 

The drills will feature a wide range of boat tactics and emergency response procedures. Drills will include multiple agency responder boats displaying flashing lights and operating near a towing vessel, which will push barges near the Evansville waterfront.

​The main purpose of the drills is to enhance maritime incident response for law enforcement, fire, and rescue agency personnel. 

Media planning to attend should arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. Depending on media interest, a boat may be made available to obtain views of the boat drills occurring on the Ohio River.
