Coast Guard and partner agencies respond to a distress call of a 30-foot vessel with 37 people aboard, 88 miles offshore Channel Islands Harbor. The vessel had been adrift without fuel, food or water for two days and requested assistance. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders coordinated the launch of multiple units to respond. Coast Guard units located the vessel and rescued 37 suspected aliens who were transferred from their vessel to Coast Guard Cutter Sockeye. All 37 individuals were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents.
