A Coast Guard Boat Forces Unit U.S. Virgin Islands 33-Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement crew member inspects an overturned dinghy following the rescue of a boater south of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, May 31, 2026. The survivor informed being the sole passenger aboard the 45-foot catamaran, Abundance, which reportedly caught fire and sank moments earlier. St John Rescue also arrived on scene, while the survivor was transferred to a Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services crew, who transported him to Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas.
