U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit conducts a casing of the colors ceremony at Naval Base Guantanamo Bay
U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. James Lovenstein, Port Security Unit (PSU) 305’s commanding officer, salutes Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Linda Fagan and requests permission to decommission PSU 305 after its nine-month mission serving at Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay (JTF-GTMO) as the Maritime Security Detachment (MARSECDET) during the casing of the colors ceremony at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, June 13, 2023. PSUs are a Coast Guard deployable specialized force that have served JTF-GTMO as the MARSECDET for over 21 years. The Virginia-based PSU was the first deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2002 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and this tour completes their fifth unit deployment.
