HOUSTON — The Coast Guard is scheduled to provide interviews on boating safety and conduct safety inspections in Kemah, Texas, Friday.
Media members are invited to ride along with a Coast Guard Station Houston boat crew conducting recreational boating safety inspections in Kemah and Clear Lake.
Additionally, Station Houston and Coast Guard Auxiliary members will discuss general boating safety tips such as life jacket regulations, kayak identification decals, filing a float plan, and rip currents to keep the public informed of safe boating practices during Memorial Day Weekend.
Coast Guard teams conduct recreational boardings to enforce all U.S. laws and applicable International Conventions and educate mariners on the proper and safe practices associated with operating vessels.
National Safe Boating Week is a week-long annual campaign for the Coast Guard and agency partners to emphasize the importance of safe boating practices and the use of boating safety equipment. This year, National Safe Boating Week spans May 18-24.
