Coast Guard medevacs 62-year-old man 165 miles off Port Fourchon, La.

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 62-year-old man Thursday from the research vessel, Rem Andes, approximately 165 miles south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a medevac request from the Rem Andes of a 62-year-old man experiencing potential neurological symptoms.

Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac. The aircrew arrived on-scene, hoisted the man aboard the helicopter, and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans.

The man was last reported in stable condition.
