CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard hosted a Community Day in Corpus Christi Saturday.
During the free, public event at Water's Edge Park, Coast Guard members from Sector Corpus Christi and surrounding units displayed equipment and discussed various Coast Guard missions.
Attendees interacted with Coast Guard air crews, rescue swimmers, boat crews, law enforcement personnel, watchstanders, search and rescue coordinators, pollution responders, Auxiliarists, recruiters and more.
"The Coast Guard has a long-standing tradition of fostering close ties with the communities we serve. Our Community Day offers locals a chance to witness firsthand the vital work we do in the Coastal Bend and become acquainted with our diverse operations to keep our Nation’s waterways safe and secure," said Capt. Jason Gunning, commander, Sector Corpus Christi. "A big thank you to our partner agencies for their support and to everyone who joined us, making our Community Day a great success."

- Corpus Christi Fire Department
